DIGESTIVE HEALTH

Picture
Yeast is in the same family as mold and fungus.  Our bodies have natural bacteria which protects us from yeast overgrowth.  Antibiotics kill not only bad bacteria, which causes infections, but also healthy, protective bacteria.  This often results in yeast overgrowth in the digestive tract.  Like weeds in a garden, yeast cannot be eradicated unless it is killed.  As we age we also have decline in stomach acid production which can lead to yeast over growth

Yeast in your body causes two problems:

  • It produces toxins, which depress the immune system and make it more reactive to allergy.  This leads to more infections, more antibiotics, the killing of more good bacteria, and a further increase in yeast levels.

  • An individual with increased levels of yeast in her system often becomes allergic to yeast, and therefore, allergic to food products which contain yeast, such as wine, beer, breads, vinager, etc.

Women often develop vaginal yeast infections which can be treated locally, but yeast overgrowth persists in the colon, often causing a host of gastrointestinal problems.

Yeast sensitivity is caused by an overgrowth of yeast, primarily in the colon, which is the large intestine. Our body has normal bacteria which live within us in a symbiotic, friendly, relationship. These normal bacteria exist within the large intestine and within the oral pharynx. Additionally, in women, they are found in the vagina. These bacteria provide a barrier on the mucosal lining of these various tissues, preventing abnormal bacteria and yeast from entering the system.

In order to restore the normal bacteria in the colon, it is essential that yeast be killed by restoring your stomach acid/function and replacing the good/healthy bacteria with probiotics.  Our treatment regimen strengthens your immune system by balancing your digestive system.
